Things aren’t going well today. Sometimes the people around you, those that you can’t avoid no matter what, can make life no fun. And sure, they have a lot going on, things that make their life unpleasant. But what makes them think that it is ok to spew their rant all over me? I have more respect for them than to do that to them, but obviously the respect is not mutual. And who wants to spend their time, their life, with someone who ….

Oh well. Does no good to complain. This is my life.

So how are things with you? Hope you are having a wonderful Labor Day holiday. Hope you are spending it with those you love and those who love you back. The sky is blue, not too hot, not too cool, perfect for the last day of the pool. Make it a good day. Make it count, because whether you do or not, it does.

searching for ordinary courage

Yes, I am searching, and today I found a blog with just that title. And looking through it briefly I think it is going to be very helpful in my search for said courage. I’m looking forward to exploring ordinary courage.

The other me

I have another blog. The one where I post the public side of me. Photos and stories of the kids. The blog for family members to visit and keep up with dance recitals and football games. That blog has to meet the approval of mama and daddy – nothing controversial, only smiles and isn’t life wonderful.

This is the blog for me to explore the other me. The NOT so eager-to-please, follow-the-rules, sunny-side-up conservative girl that writes the other blog. Here, I hope to keep it more real. Can I do that? I have kept this side buried for so long, it will be interesting to see what I will allow myself to reveal. What I will be willing to admit about my not-so-perfect-after-all life. The purpose is to be more authentic, not worry so much about whether or not I am meeting everyone’s approval. To get Real. And I hope to find others on the same path who might understand some of this. Why not just keep a journal, keep it private? Sometimes I just wish I had someone to talk to. Maybe I’ll find another blogger to talk to. Anyway, here it is.

Sometimes the smallest things make all the difference

I happened on this little flower in a neglected part of an old garden. It is small for its kind, some of the petals are misshapen. But still it held its head high, not bothered by the mediocrity all around it in this forgotten corner. I like its determination to be the best it can be, not bothered or brought down by the lack of effort all around it. It was inspiring and it made me happy.

I like this little lesson.

Most days swimming upstream, trying to catch up, but some days, just hovering around the rocks at the bottom, watching the other fish swim by.
